Emakimono is an infinite auto-runner (or auto-flier, more so) that has you take control of a small, paper swallow, desperately fleeing from the collapse of its world. Gracefully guide the swallow over and under the various obstacles that stand in its way, and fly as far as you can! Step-by-Step Guide

1Identify what kind of USB port your Mac has. Depending on your MAC you need either USB-A to Micro USB or USB-C to Micro USB cable. If you have any Android phone and your MAC has a big old USB-A you can use your phone DATA cable.

  • If Mac has USB-A, cable looks like this

If you don’t have one we suggest getting one like this.

  • If you have a Mac with USB-C only, you need USB-C to Micro USB cable:

If you don’t have one we suggest getting one like this.

2Download firmware and a special updater app as a ZIP file to your Mac. Locate it and unzip to Desktop, then move monimoto_v0.10.5.71.bin firmware file from folder to Desktop.

Important! If you do that on any other place than Desktop it will not work!

3Remove Monimoto device from your vehicle and open battery cover.

4Remove batteries from Monimoto slot and wait for 2 minutes.

5Connect Monimoto to Mac using a USB cable.

6Once connected to Mac you should see solid red LED on device and a new folder called CRP DISABLD or CRP1 ENABLD on desktop.

If you see CRP1 ENABLD , please follow these steps:

  1. Once the device is connected, go to CRP1 ENABLD disk and Move the file firmware.bin to Trash.
  2. Eject CRP1 ENABLD disk.
  3. Connect USB again. The disk should be named CRP DISABLD. If so, move the file firmware.bin to Trash again and continue with the main instructions.
Mac

Updater app will only be able to copy new firmware file monimoto_v0.10.5.71.bin to Monimoto device if External disk name contains ‘CRP DISABLD’ and file firmware.bin is deleted!

7Start updater app. Most likely you will get a warning ‘Monimoto FW Update can’t be opened because it is from unidentified developer’. Press and hold Option button then Open app.

You will see a new finder window (see pic.). In this window select file called monimoto_v0.10.5.71.bin and press choose. App will close by itself.

8Check if CRP Disabld folder contains new firmware file monimoto_v0.10.5.71.bin.

Emakimono Mac Os Catalina

If not, expand and try to replace firmware file manually.

  1. Remove batteries from Monimoto slot and wait for 2 minutes.
  2. Connect USB.
  3. Once the device is connected, go to CRP1 ENABLD disk and delete file firmware.bin.
  4. Open terminal (it can be found on any MAC in Launch pad).
  5. Type: cp(press spacebar) drag and drop monimoto_v0.10.5.71.bin file(press spacebar)~(press spacebar) drag and drop CRP folder.
  6. Press enter
  7. Ignore memory error and go ahead, open CRP folder and check if new firmware is there. In case not, make sure you typed a command correctly

9Eject your CRP DISABLED disk.

10Unplug USB cable from device.

11Insert battery (batteries) and observe LED. You should see a series of quick flashes lasting for ~ 20 sec. Then one very long 5 sec flash.

If you saw one very long 5 sec flash, that means the firmware is up to date. If you did not see that or missed it you may remove batteries for 2 minutes and repeat the process starting from step 4.

TIP: 5 sec long flash means the device is in default factory mode with the latest firmware. If you’re stuck, just contact support via Monimoto app “message us”.

12Open Monimoto app, then tap HOME, upper menu and choose device to delete.

Android users have to long tap on device and delete it.

iOS users need swipe to left and delete the device.

In addition to the above – Iphone users need to go to phone Bluetooth settings, find Monimoto, it looks like mm.xxxxxxxxxxxxx and tap “forget it”.

Important! Firmware update from old to new one will reset your Monimoto to factory settings therefore you have to pair the device from scratch as a new device. Even if you see the device on the app you will not be able connect and your device will not work until you pair it again.

13Pair Monimoto as first time using Monimoto app. Be sure to have the keyfob close to Monimoto device.

14After successful pairing just open Monimoto app, tap on settings and click connect. This is just to check that all is OK.

15Close Monimoto battery cover in a way that an arrow on each part of the cover is pointing to an arrow on another part.

16After pairing the device to smartphone and installing it back on the vehicle we recommend to perform a test by triggering alarm.

17 Finally, before you go – some users previously reported issues with batteries losing contact due to vibration. So once that you have the device with you now – here is the quickest and (possibly) funniest way to resolve it!

Troubleshooting for Mac

Monimoto red LED flashing instead of solid red when USB cable is plugged-in

You have most likely connected with batteries inside or tried to connect without waiting for 2 minutes after the batteries are removed.

I see CRP ENABLD but not CRP DISABLD

If you see CRP1 ENABLD , please follow these steps:

  1. Once the device is connected, go to CRP1 ENABLD disk and Move the file firmware.bin to Trash.
  2. Eject CRP ENABLD disk.
  3. Connect USB again. The disk should be named CRP DISABLD. If so, continue with the main instructions.

I don’t see rapid LED flashes even though the file was saved to CRP folder and batteries inserted back

  • It’s likely you did not unplug the USB cable prior to inserting batteries. Remove batteries, unplug the USB and insert batteries again.
  • Try to remove one (or both) batteries and insert back.
  • Batteries are too low. Replace them with new ones.
  • Firmware file was not saved to CRP folder. Start from Step 4.

Firmware has been updated successfully and I did see 5 seconds long red LED flash but I cannot connect with Monimoto app

Most likely you didn’t delete device from the app and didn’t pair from scratch.
