The Certificate IV in Ministry is the ideal course if you are looking to take your practical ministry experience to a new level. The course combines strong biblical knowledge with opportunity to develop your ministry and leadership skills in a practical way. Learn online from experienced, recognised ministry leaders who will mentor and equip you for greater ministry opportunities.

In addition to your online learning and self-study practices, Interns will participate in a weekly discussion group designed to enhance the learning experience by group engagement of the topic. Extra support with your studies will also be available through the group.

You will cover subjects in leadership, evangelism, pastoral care and biblical studies. Make a greater impact in your local church ministry team by studying a Cert IV in Ministry.

Course Description

Alphacrucis ministry courses are designed to prepare students for ministry in the Church of the 21st Century. This course sets out the foundational skills necessary to minister, in particular within a Christian context. These include:

• Personal spiritual disciplines

• Biblical knowledge and interpretation

• Theological knowledge and interpretation

• Pastoral ministry skills

Ministry can take place within a variety of contexts; this includes Administration, Chaplaincy, Children’s ministry, Church planting, Community work, Creative ministry, Leadership, Women’s ministry and Youth ministry.

This course is intended to provide participants with the following general education outcomes:

• Ability to apply spiritual disciplines

• Demonstration of a broad knowledge of the Old Testament and New Testament

• Ability to identify and apply Christian worldview and values

• Ability to apply knowledge of pastoral ministry to a broad range of contexts, and depth in the area of specialisation

• Demonstration of general research skills, particularly the ability to gather, understand and evaluate information

The Certificate IV in Ministry (Leadership) consists of the following ten units:

• Introduction to Pastoral Care

4 Leadership Stream units:

• Evangelism

• Participate in Christian Ministry

• Lead Teams

• Pentecostal Worldview

Course Units for Chaplaincy Stream

To be eligible to graduate in the award, a total of 11 Core Units are to be completed in the Intern year. These Units are:

• Effectively communicate the principles of the Old Testament

• Effectively communicate the principles of the New Testament

• Christian Disciplines

• Christian Worldview

• Participate in Christian Ministry

6 Chaplaincy Stream Units:

• CHCPAS001 Plan for the provision of pastoral & spiritual care

• CHCPAS002 Provide pastoral and spiritual care

• CHCCCS016 Respond to client needs

• CHCCCS017 Provide loss and grief support

• CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues

• CHCCOM002 Use communication to build relationships

NOTE THAT THE ABOVE CHAPLAINCY STREAM UNITS WILL BE COMPLETED VIA 2 X 3 DAY INTENSIVES.

Accreditation

The Certificate IV in Ministry is provided by Alphacrucis College and administered as a Local Church College by Imagine Nations Church.

The course is accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and is a nationally recognised qualification.
